What the video covers

The footage at the door

This ETimes video discusses an incident on Frontier Airlines flight 2052 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It is built around a short TikTok clip filmed on board by the user @tavi.dinero. In the clip, a woman in a grey hoodie stands at the closed forward door and shouts at the crew to open it. A flight attendant wraps his arms around her, pushes her away from the door and tries to calm her, while another passenger shouts that he should not put his hands on her. According to the narrator, the flight attendant asks for a moment to work out what is happening before the clip ends. The clip was posted with an angry caption aimed at the airline.

The passenger account

The narrator explains that the aircraft, an Airbus A321 from New Orleans, had just arrived in Atlanta when a malfunctioning jet bridge reportedly stopped passengers from getting off. According to the person who posted the clip, the aircraft was at the gate but the engines and lights had been switched off, leaving the cabin without cooling, light or water. The poster says passengers spent around an hour in a dark, stuffy cabin, that after about 30 minutes one woman began hyperventilating and stopped responding, and that the woman at the door was panicking because her mother had been unresponsive for five to eight minutes. The narrator notes that these details have not been independently verified.

The Frontier statement

The video then presents the account of a Frontier Airlines spokesperson. According to the airline, flight 2052 landed about 20 minutes early and taxied to the gate. The jet bridge at first appeared to be connected to the forward door and the first passengers began to leave, but a mechanical issue then caused it to become misaligned with the door. Deplaning was stopped while maintenance staff worked on the problem. Frontier says announcements were made, that passengers could leave once the jet bridge had been repaired and reconnected, and it apologises for the inconvenience and discomfort.
