IN SHORT
  • At EATS 2026 in Cascais, ProSim announced that Turkish Airlines Flight Academy will use two ProSim fixed-base simulators, an A322 and a B38M, in the MPL programme it runs for Turkish Airlines.1
  • The devices will be manufactured by FTD.aero and qualified to FNPT II MCC level at the academy's training centre in Izmir.1
  • Under Part-FCL, an FNPT II MCC is the minimum training device for the basic phase of an MPL course, and practical MCC training is flown in an FNPT II MCC or a full flight simulator.6

Turkish Airlines Flight Academy will use two ProSim fixed-base simulators in the multi-crew pilot licence (MPL) programme it runs for the airline, ProSim Training Solutions announced at the European Aviation Training Summit (EATS) 2026 in Cascais1. One simulator represents the A322 and the other the B38M1. Both will be manufactured by FTD.aero and qualified to FNPT II MCC level at the academy's training centre in Izmir, Halldale reported on 5 November1.

What was announced at EATS 2026?

ProSim named Turkish Airlines Flight Academy as a new customer during the summit1. It announced two customers on the final day: Icelandair, which selected ProSim's A322 flight training device, and Turkish Airlines Flight Academy2. No contract value or training start date was given1.

ProSim Training Solutions, part of Italy's TXT Group, supplies simulator software3. In August 2025 the company said more than 400 professional simulator installations worldwide, built by different training device manufacturers, ran on its software3. FTD.aero, which will manufacture both devices1, builds its simulators at a facility in Poland4.

FTD.aero announced in November 2025 that it had signed a contract with Turkish Airlines Flight Academy for two EASA FNPT II MCC (APS) simulators, built to airline-grade (FTD-2) fidelity and standards for MPL training5. In August 2026 the manufacturer reported that both devices, a B73M and an A32N, had passed their factory acceptance test at its facility in Poland, and that installation in Turkey was the next step4.

FTD.aero describes its devices as a B73M and an A32N4, while the summit announcement refers to an A322 and a B38M1. The published announcements do not say whether these are the same two simulators.

Where do FNPT II MCC simulators fit in pilot training?

Under the EU rules for pilot licensing, Part-FCL, an integrated MPL course comprises at least 240 hours of flying training in actual and simulated flight, spread over four phases6. Phase 1 covers core flying skills through basic single-pilot training in an aeroplane6. In Phase 2, the basic phase, multi-crew operations and instrument flight are introduced, and the minimum training device is an FNPT II MCC that represents a generic multi-engine turbine-powered aeroplane6. Phase 3 requires a device representing a multi-engine turbine-powered aeroplane required to be operated with a co-pilot, qualified to a standard equivalent to level B6. Phase 4, type rating training in an airline-oriented environment, requires a full flight simulator (FFS) fully equivalent to level D, or level C with an enhanced daylight visual system6.

For the separate multi-crew cooperation (MCC) course, Part-FCL requires the practical MCC training to be flown in an FNPT II MCC or an FFS6. Our explainers cover what MCC training involves and the difference between the ATPL and the MPL.

What is Turkish Airlines Flight Academy?

The academy is Turkish Airlines' own pilot training organisation. It is based at Aydın Çıldır Airport and has run flight training there since 2013, AFM.aero reports7; the new simulators will go to its training centre in Izmir1. According to AFM.aero, the academy has 97 training aircraft, made up of 66 Cessna 172S, 16 Diamond DA40, 14 Diamond DA42 and one Extra NG, supported by eight flight simulators7. Turkish Airlines is now seeking buyers for 14 training aircraft and for an Ascent XJ FNPT II MCC device, with delivery from January 20277.

How do you get into the Turkish Airlines cadet programme?

The airline's entry route for future pilots is the Take-Off Cadet Program8. Applicants must first meet basic criteria such as foreign language proficiency, education and age, and their documents are checked against the criteria in the job posting8. For the application round that closed on 11 July 2025, AeroHaber reported that candidates had to be born between 1 January 1995 and 31 December 2004, hold a university degree, be Turkish citizens or Blue Card holders, measure between 160 and 195 cm with a body mass index between 20 and 30, and submit a TOEFL, IELTS or PTE certificate9. The same report described approximately 15 to 18 months of theoretical and practical training, followed by 3 to 6 months of type training, before graduates join the fleet as second officers9. Turkish Airlines says application criteria and assessment stages may vary, and recommends reviewing the current job posting before applying8.

Turkish Airlines lists eight stages for cadets: an online English test, the PACE-A psychometric assessment, the PACE-B competency assessment, document verification with height and weight measurement, the PACE-C interview with HR and the business unit, a preliminary medical assessment, a pre-employment medical examination (Fit to Fly) and the job offer8. A Class 1 medical certificate is not required at the preliminary medical stage8. For positions for experienced pilots, the airline's selection includes a simulator assessment; the cadet route does not8.

Our Turkish Airlines profile sets out each stage. Our guide to pilot assessments explains what each type of test measures, and our guide to simulator assessment preparation covers the simulator assessment in selections for experienced pilots. Practise the Turkish Airlines selection tests.
