Does Singapore Airlines publish pilot pay?
No. As of October 2026, the careers site describes a competitive salary without giving figures, and says cadets receive a monthly allowance during training and an attractive salary with allowances once appointed as First Officer. Direct Entry First Officers and Captains are recruited on fixed-term contracts of up to 12 months.1
What do government wage statistics show?
Singapore's Ministry of Manpower reports, for June 2025, a median monthly basic wage of SGD 17,054 for full-time resident employees working as commercial airline pilots, with SGD 12,322 at the 25th percentile and SGD 20,000 at the 75th percentile. Within transportation and storage, the median basic wage was SGD 17,087. These figures cover all employers, include only residents, exclude bonuses and are not broken down by airline, so they are not Singapore Airlines figures. At 31 March 2026, Singapore Airlines and Scoot together employed 3,676 pilots, according to The Straits Times.29
How large is the annual bonus?
Eligible Singapore Airlines staff received a profit-sharing bonus of 5.7 months for the 2026 financial year, down from 7.45 months for FY2025 and 7.94 months for FY2024, The Business Times reported in May 2026. The bonus follows a longstanding formula agreed with the staff unions. For FY2024-25 the airline confirmed to The Straits Times that a profit-sharing bonus would be paid, without disclosing the formula or the amount. Citing sources, The Straits Times reported that the 7.94-month bonus for the year to March 2024 applied to staff including its pilots; the airline declined to comment.345
What happened to pilot pay during and after COVID?
In September 2020 the pilots union, the Air Line Pilots Association, Singapore (Alpa-S), and the airline agreed deeper pay cuts from 1 October 2020 to 31 March 2022 to avoid further job losses. Other captains took cuts of up to 28.5 per cent and first officers up to 18.5 per cent, on top of a 10 per cent cut in the monthly variable component, while re-employed captains and first officers saw cuts of 60 and 50 per cent. When the variable component was restored for Singapore-based staff in August 2021, the additional pilot cuts stayed in place. In May 2022 The Business Times, citing Lianhe Zaobao, reported that basic pay for pilots would be restored step by step, with full restoration by the start of 2023 under a new agreement with Alpa-S.678
What about cadets and direct entry pilots?
Ab initio cadets train at Singapore Flying College in Singapore and overseas, receive a monthly allowance during training and are bonded for the training period and seven years from appointment as First Officer. Direct Entry First Officers need an ATPL with an A350 or A380 type rating recognised or validated by CAAS and at least 1,500 hours on the A350 and/or A380. Direct Entry Captains need at least 7,000 hours, including 3,000 hours in command on commercial jets in international operations.1
