What pay has been reported for LOT pilots?

According to Pasazer.com in May 2018, from 1 June 2018 the basic pay of Boeing 787 captains on employment contracts rose from PLN 16.5 thousand to PLN 18.6 thousand gross a month, and first officers from PLN 13.3 thousand to PLN 15 thousand. On the Boeing 737 and Embraer, captains moved to PLN 16.8 thousand gross and first officers to PLN 11 thousand. PAP, reported by money.pl, put the Dreamliner captain figure at about PLN 13 thousand net a month. In mid 2018, LOT advertised for foreign captains for a planned Budapest base, first at EUR 6.5 thousand net a month and later at USD 10 to 15 thousand, without the period being stated, which the LOT pilots' union said was several times what Polish LOT pilots earned.123

Are LOT pilots employed or self-employed?

According to Pasazer.com in May 2022, LOT now takes on new pilots only through civil-law B2B contracts, usually as one-person businesses contracting with its subsidiary LOT Crew, and at the end of 2020 the share of pilots on such contracts was 68 per cent. The protesting B2B pilots said their minimum pay was set at 15 hours of flying, about PLN 4 thousand gross a month. LOT Crew announced in January 2019 that, from 1 January 2019, its pilot pay budget would rise by an average of 14 per cent, with increases for captains and first officers on the Boeing 787 and Bombardier Q400 and for captains on the Boeing 737 and Embraer, and added a punctuality bonus of up to PLN 8 thousand a year for first officers and PLN 12 thousand for captains.45

How has pay been negotiated?

A strike by LOT pilots and cabin crew began on 18 October 2018 against the background of a long dispute over returning to the pay rules of 2010, and was suspended on 27 October. In February 2019, LOT and the unions agreed the financial terms of a new pay regulation, ending collective disputes that had lasted six years. A new pay regulation initialled in December 2021 raised the monthly hours for which pilots are paid regardless of flying from 20 to 27.5 and ran until 31 March 2024.678

Where are LOT pilots based?

LOT says on its careers page, in a copy archived in February 2026, that new pilots get type training and a permanent base in Warsaw, with a career path from the Embraer and Boeing B737 to the Boeing B787 Dreamliner.9
