What is in the pilots' agreement?
The agreement between Air Mauritius and the Mauritius Airline Pilots' Association replaced most of the 2018 agreement, which the airline could no longer afford, and settled a case before the Employment Relations Tribunal. According to Le Mauricien, pilots receive a flight service allowance per flying hour at an agreed rate, including simulator training but not licence renewal hours, and instructors receive a monthly allowance by aircraft type and rank.
Overtime depends on aircraft type, starting after 65 flying hours on the ATR, and pilots made redundant receive three months of basic salary plus a pro rata year-end bonus. The agreement also provides a year-end gratuity of 25 per cent of salary, subject to specific conditions and backdated to July to December 2022, and a monthly allowance of Rs 30,000 for pilots on the common contract.1
